Paul Kelly is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (1991) who has worked with some of the most talented and creative people in the UK property industry over the past 30 years.

Based in London, his career has spanned 3 property cycles – starting in 1988 in a private sector developer (P&O Developments), moving to a property consultancy (Weatherall Green & Smith - now trading as BNP Paribas Real Estate) and most recently working in a leading real estate lender (Hypo Real Estate, rebranded Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG in 2009).

Paul joined the bank in 1997 (and was appointed a Senior Director in 2003) when it was a key senior arranger, lender and agent in the UK property market and also owned a property company (HPSL). The business subsequently expanded into mezzanine lending, development financing, joint venture profit arrangements and investment banking. As part of a deal team, his role was the underwriting of property risk and structuring of new business loans, closing transactions, assisting in the syndication of loans and the management of ongoing portfolio risk (up to 2008).

Following a change to the business model in 2008, his experience was in the restructuring and workout of non performing loans (principally development loans and some investment loans) and in new lending business.

His experience is in the UK commercial and residential property sectors with some exposure to markets in Spain, Dubai, Germany and Romania.
